Molokai Budget Vacation

The lawn is full
Of weeds and stumps.

Trees have been
Beheaded here.

Two dogs sniff
An eel carcass?

They choose sides,
Stretch it like rubber.

The smell of death
Defeats the gardenias.

My plywood shack
Overlooks a harbor

Stuffed with lobster shells
And liquor bottles.

The beach east
Is thin and beige.

The shallows to the west?
A minefield of sting rays.
